Welcome to the August #facility23 challenge thread. Every week day, and every month we’re on a different asteroid in The Temenos Ark, a vast, out of control FTL bubble dragging ships, asteroids and…other…things out of the solar syste,m as it flees a war with a piece of sentient alien music. What happened after that is the core of After the War, the SF RPG I co-created with Jason Pitre. The Ark can absolutely be used there, but it’s also system agnostic so it’s useful for any SF RPG.
I build each day using The Story Engine card system. I post each one on Twitter, and write up a longer version in a separate file. It’s a fun system, means I can basically speed draft it and the twitter threads have the added advantage of all the research I do being linked there too.
Now is not a great time to be doing anything on social media and I’ve changed things up a little bit. Instead of a single gargantuan thread I’ve broken them down by weeks. Also I’ve done this across Twitter, BlueSky and Mastodon. The links are below and take us to two of my favourite settings so far.
Didymos, is a shelter for lost robots run by a benevolent AI and a group of amazingly odd biological robots based on actual science. As always, research is linked in the thread. Meanwhile, 945 Barcelona (A921 CB) otherwise known as Arcadia Zero is a premium LARP setting catapulted into the Ark in mysterious circumstances and under the control of a despotic player who knows it’s just a game and just wants to win.
