Fitness Week 1: Let the Training Montage Begin!

So, over in this post I set out my Aims for the year. A lot of people really liked it, and a week in it’s already had an effect. You see, there’s a difference between wanting to exercise five days a week and writing down that you want to exercise five days a week.

In public.

It’s keeping me honest, as well as sweaty. And that’s the point.

So, here’s what Week 1 looked like:

Superhero Workout twice.

DDP Yoga Wake Up! Routine twice

Zombies Run Couch to 5k once

This is me at the end of it.

Fitness Week 1

No, I don’t know why I’m upside down either.

So, thoughts!

Superhero Workout is BIG fun. It’s also slightly frightening just how hard you work in such a short space of time. I was feeling distinctly sore by Wednesday, hence the gear shift.

DDP Yoga’s Wake Up! Routine is great for basic stretching. That’s all it is. I need to make some time to do one of the 30 minute workouts at least once a week.

-I stalled out on Zombies Run Couch to 5k last year. I couldn’t make the ‘Run for 5 minutes’ week on the first try and that, coupled with deadline explosions, meant it was easy to put it down. I’m hoping that starting from scratch, and going once a week not three times for the first quarter, will mitigate that. If it doesn’t I’ll just do what I did in 2012; Jump straight to Zombies Run! And run as much as I can for intervals until those intervals glue together.

-The run at the end of the week feels like a last minute thing. Because it was. I’m tremendously lucky in that body image issues don’t tend to come visit often. When they do however, they make themselves entirely too comfortable.

Which is why it took me until about 4pm to get out. But I did, leaving the body issues behind for half an hour. I had a run to log.
