Comics — all serials, really — demand hope. When a cliffhanger hits, what powers you through to the next part is the hope it’ll arrive, the elaborate fantasy stories you build while you wait to see if you’re right, the luck you hope the characters have to turn things around.
Radio Apocalypse is one of my favourite comics right now. It’s on hiatus due to Ram V, the writer, having some very sad familial problems to deal with. When he’s ready, it’ll return. But even if it doesn’t, it embodies hope.
