The Arcology is a utopia and Praveenthi ‘Prab’ Saal can’t stand it. Unable to take the Arcology’s vast pressure on her individuality, Prab volunteers as an Interlocutor, a physical presence that acts as a negotiator and go-between for the Arcology and the cultures it encounters. Prab lives and works on Sirajah’s Reach, and she’s on duty when the Arcology disappears.
Everywhere.
As Sirajah’s Reach falls into chaos, Prab receives a distress call from a nameless sentient ship and its convict pilot. Together, they evacuate as many people as they can and discover they may be the last hope for a society that gave up on them a long time ago.
