Something Good: Hip-Hop Was To Blame After All by Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer

A small fragment of my secret origin; as a brand new student journalist in 1994, the first CD I got sent to review was by a band called Collapsed Lung. A couple of years later, they would score a massive hit with Eat My Goal, that Summer’s football album. Much more than a couple of years later, I would realize that chap-hop proponent Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer was their lead singer. It’s a pleasure to see him continue to thrive, especially with a new album out. This is an earlier piece but is still pretty much peak B: warm, funny, articulate and quietly very angry. It’s also Something Good.
